Meet Lauren Turner, Associate Lawyer

I was born and raised in Grande Prairie, Alberta. My path to becoming a lawyer was quite different than many others in my field. Before entering the legal profession, I was a heavy-duty mechanic, a liner locator, a heavy equipment operator, and a sawmill operator. I wanted a bigger challenge, so I attended Grande Prairie Regional College during the day while working night shifts at the sawmill. I was accepted to the University of Alberta Faculty of Law in 2015, graduated in 2018 and was called to the Bar in 2019. My background is very diverse, and it taught me the value of hard work.

Every legal issue is unique as is every client. I believe in working as a team with my clients to ensure you understand every step of the legal process and I understand what is most important to you. Whether it is good or bad news, honesty and transparency between myself and my clients is essential to ensure we achieve the best possible resolution for your legal matter within the confines of the law.

The legal process does not operate like it does on TV or in movies. Its more like standing in a really long line. It feels like it takes forever and can be very stressful especially if others in line aren’t cooperating. It’s important to remember that everyone in line has the same goal; to get to the end. Stomping our feet or trying to cut ahead will get us nowhere and will make the line move slower. If you retain me, I will stand in that line with you and do my best to get us to the end. The more open we are to working together with everyone in line, the faster we can get to the end one step at a time.

Transitioning from coveralls and steel toed boots to suits and heels has not been easy, but I have not forgotten where I came from. I am a strong advocate for my clients. I am not afraid to work hard to get the job done and resolve your legal issues as efficiently as possible.
