1. How did you get started in the legal profession?

I obtained my Juris Doctor degree from the University of Alberta Faculty of Law, and was called to the Alberta bar in 2019. I was awarded the Belzberg Scholarship and the Faculty of Law Entrance Scholarship in law school in recognition of my academic achievements. I have been working in the legal field since 2016, and my background is in the areas of family, civil, and immigration law.

2. Why did you decide to become a lawyer?

I enjoy working to protect people’s rights and advance their interests. I am able to help clients navigate the legal system and ensure that they achieve a just outcome.

3. What qualities do you bring to your career as a lawyer?

I am a strong advocate for my clients in court, and I have experience in both Provincial Court and the Court of Queen’s Bench. I hold myself to a high standard to get results for my clients efficiently and skillfully.

I also pride myself on being approachable and a good listener for my clients. I take care to get to know my clients’ objectives and values, and to communicate regularly on the progress of their case.

Legal practice also requires a strong understanding of legal principles. I am thorough in my legal analysis, and I keep myself up-to-date on statutory changes and developing case law.

4. What areas of law do you handle primarily?

Family and Immigration.

5. What things can a client do to work most effectively with a lawyer?

Establishing a good relationship is important to work effectively together. I expect my clients to tell me everything I need to know about their case. I encourage clients to keep me updated on their matter and communicate openly with me.

6. What can a client expect when they meet you for the first time?

I will ask the client to share their story, and will ask questions about their circumstances. I will then identify the legally relevant issues and advise the client on their options and next steps. I will review the pros and cons of each option so my client can make an informed decision.

7. Is it possible to minimize the cost of divorce?

Yes. One way is to negotiate a settlement. I can assist my clients obtain a settlement with their spouse in order to avoid the costs of going to court.

8. How can a client protect his or her property before getting married or starting a new relationship?

A client may want to obtain a pre-nuptial or cohabitation agreement so as to protect his or her property and other interests before getting married or starting a new relationship. These are contracts that make clear the couple’s intentions for their marriage and relationship, as well as its possible break down. I can assist my clients in creating an agreement and ensuring they understand their rights and responsibilities under applicable laws.

9. Do you speak any other languages?

I speak French at an intermediate level and I am conversant in Korean.

10.) What are your interests?

My interests include travelling, reading literature, and cycling.
